Kids at Seguin ISD deserve all-day access to water at school!
School “Hydration Stations” are filtered water fountains for easy filling and refilling water bottles.
Hydration Stations are better than typical water fountains because they can increase students’ consumption of water and reduce consumption of sugary drinks. This helps promote a healthy weight and healthy mind. Hydration Stations also can help save money from buying bottled water, and saves those bottles from landfills!
Unfortunately, many district schools don’t have Hydration Stations.

Dear person of interest:
I want the best for my child and being a proud parent or supporter of a school in Seguin ISD, I care about children's education and their health.
This is why I believe Hydration Stations are vital to our kids’ education and future.
If my child has access to clean drinking water and can fill up a refillable water bottle, they can take it with them to each class, recess and afterschool activities! This would ensure my kid stays hydrated, increases their chances of being at a healthy weight, and saves me money and contributes to less environmental waste.
In fact, when New York schools replaced vending machines with similar water jets, likelihood of students being overweight dropped 0.9 percentage points in boys and 0.6 points in girls.
Research has also shown that daily water consumption decreases consumption of sugary drinks, prevents cavities, helps kids consume fewer calories, and decreases dehydration and its issues with concentration and short-term memory!
Hydration stations don’t have to be very costly. There are many ways we can make the funding happen for our school and ensure all our students grow up to be a healthier weight.
I hope you will think about the health of our students and staff and add hydration stations to Seguin ISD schools.
