WIC food “packages” allow participants to get foods with specific nutrients for pregnancy, growth, and development.
An evaluation of WIC food packages is congressionally mandated every 10 years.
This year, USDA's proposed WIC food package update aims to provide participants with a wider variety of foods that align with the latest nutritional science, special dietary needs, and cultural food preferences; provide more equitable access to supplemental foods; and better support individual breastfeeding goals.
